Are the 1992 LA riots a perfect example of why leftist gun control fantasies are nonsense?

I caught a show the other day on the LA riots. The cops cut and ran, and anarchy took hold. In other words, government's promise that it would protect you was not delivered and some innocents got beaten within an inch of their life. Not to mention the property of productive Korean shopowners was destroyed. Curiously, however, once the remaining Korean people took arms and patrolled the rooftops of their shops, they were spared from the looting. Hmmmmm.

By the way, the footage of Rodney ';the Career Criminal'; King you were shown didn't include the parts where King jumped right up and attacked officers after being stunned gunned, not to mention the high speed pursuit that got them there in the first place. Are the 1992 LA riots a perfect example of why leftist gun control fantasies are nonsense?
The leftists want to take away everyone's guns because it will make the citizenry weaker and thus more dependent on the government. The leftists want this. They want to tell you how to do everything.

They want a more powerful government. Some people who have bought into the leftist ideals will tell you they don't want government to have so much control... yet everything they stand for states otherwise (handouts, free college, universal healthcare, banning guns)

Yes, I am a cop and most people think cops are the strong arm of the government. But I will be the first to refuse to enforce any law in which guns are taken away from law abiding citizens. Are the 1992 LA riots a perfect example of why leftist gun control fantasies are nonsense?
Logic doesn't work, unfortunately. No one can seem to answer why states (like Vermont) that essentially have no gun laws or have very little restriction on law abiding citizens freely carrying concealed firearms, somehow have the lowest crime rates in the US.

All while areas like DC, NY, California, NJ, which have the toughest gun laws, and in the case of DC outright ban weapons, somehow have cities with the highest crime, murder and gun violence rates in the US.

States that have enacted gun friendly right to carry gun laws and Castle Doctrines have similarly seen dramatic drops in crime.

Hmmmm......

I have yet to hear a anti gun person fully explain that little fact.

Oh, BTW, Rodney King...Bad example...yes he was a perp and continues to be a criminal to this day, but those cops where WAY out of line. They where supposed to be the professionals and rise above his animalistic nature, not join him.
A perfect example of why our right to purchase new military small arms (machine guns) should be restored. We had that right from the 1900's through May 19, 1986. Now we can only buy pre-86 machine guns.

You can prolly tell that I am a hardcore ';cold-dead fingers'; type.
';Queenie'; is right. Guns didn't start the problem, irresponsible behavior on the part of a certain segment of society did that. Firearms simply allowed citizens to protect themselves after the problem had already occurred. Regarding the proliferation of arms in the hands of the public, crime ALWAYS goes down when citizen owned armament increases. With regard to AKs and Uzis, in America, the right to keep and bear arms SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED. Look that up before you spout your socialist nonsense and may-hap you'll realize just how ludicrous your ';argument'; sounds.

No one will force you to protect yourself from either the criminal element or a government gone awry but if you stand between myself and my ability to defend my family, my freedom, or my country, you tread on dangerous ground indeed. You wait for the cops to file a report (that's about all you'll get from them). I choose the path of personal responsibility, I am an American.
WE HAVE THE RIGHT TO PROTECT OUR LIVES AND PROPERTY AND AS STATED HERE ALL THE BAD ACTORS HAVE THEY WEAPONS !
Poor excuse, guns were not what started the problem in LA, it was the masses of people and fire which is what exacerbated the problem as well as rogue cops.

Tell me how an AK47 or an Uzi is necessary for hunting deer?

Why is it that having more powerful guns even in the hands of the citizenry has not made us safer and just made the situation worse? Figure that out first before talking about how many more guns you need to ';protect'; yourself. I keep seeing more examples where I live of people with guns being killed with their own guns.
The problem with ';gun control'; is that the only ones who would no longer have access to guns are the law abiding citizens. Criminals would obtain weapons through criminal means.... shocking I know. If you pass a ban on guns you are leaving the law abiding citizens helpless against criminals who could care less what laws we pass to control violence and will obtain a weapon regardless of the legality.
When guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns.

Why do you think there have been so many school ground and campuus shootings? It's because these are the places where guns have been outlawed and what better place to shoot sitting ducks than a place where only you will have a gun.
